General Description :
The Four Zone Monitoring System is a complete burglar alarm. Upto four zones are monitored with this device. A zone may be described as a collection of sensors encircling a specific location, be it a room or an area in a factory or in large open ground. The zones are monitored by using various commonly available sensors. The Simply Safe is connected to any type of sensor that will provide a logic type of output. This means that if a zone is interrupted, the sensor would produce a signal indicating the intrusion. Based on this signal, the system will trigger an alarm. The reset button must be pressed within 30 seconds after any entry to deactivate the alarm.
Commonly available sensors include Passive Infra Red [PIR] type, contact type, like a switch and you can even string up a thin copper wire across a door, where, if the wire breaks, the alarm sounds. More expensive sensors like IR beam sensors and Microwave sensors are also available. All these sensors do one thing - provide a output when the sensor senses something. This is the input that needs to go into the zone alarm system.

Operation :
The breaking /opening of any zone is indicated by an LED. The reset button must be pressed before the alarm sounds. The reset button also silences the alarm when it sounds. The Simply Safe must be installed in a concealed location. If a zone/door is opened and then closed, the LED will still indicate that this zone was opened and will remain ON until the reset is pressed. However the rest of the zones that are not interrupted continue to be armed. Again, if an open zone is closed (an open door is closed), the system will wait approximately 5 seconds before arming. Arming is indicated by a short siren chirp and the LED goes off indicating arming. This delay is to prevent false triggering in case the doors or shutters are stuck or hard to close. In case the alarm is triggered, this is indicated by the LED, which will remain on instead of going off when the door is closed. This feature will prevent nuisance alarms. However, the user has to be cautioned to ensure that the doors, on which the sensors are fitted, close properly the first time.
The system is designed for either mains power or battery power operation .If battery low is sensed the alarm cycle time is stretched which ensures the alarm and protection is available for a longer time. The battery low condition is indicated by an LED, which blinks at a slow rate to conserve battery power. The alarm sound also is for a shorter time and at longer intervals. For normal operation the alarm is activated for approximately one minute and is off for approximately one minute. For battery low condition, the alarm is on for only about 30 seconds and off for almost two minutes. The alarm will however continue to sound at the rate until the reset switch is pressed. If the reset is not pressed at all, the alarm will automatically reset itself after about 30 minutes.
